Grizzly River Run Refurbishment Update: Rock Work Unveiled and More! (2026)

Exciting Developments at Grizzly River Run: Unveiling of Rock Work Scrim and Ongoing Renovations

During a recent trip to Grizzly River Run, we observed significant refurbishment activities taking place at this beloved attraction. After its closure in January 2026, the ride is undergoing important updates to enhance the experience for guests.

Revelation of Rock Work Scrim at Grizzly River Run

On our visit to Disney’s California Adventure at approximately 10:30 AM PST, we were greeted by a surprising sight—the beige scrim walls that had previously obscured the rugged mountain facade of Grizzly River Run are now partially folded back, revealing the work being done. A cast member was actively engaged in what appeared to be repainting or reshaping the rock features, suggesting a focus on restoring the attraction's visual appeal.

To provide some context, here’s a glimpse of how the scrim walls appeared back on January 21, 2026: they effectively concealed much of the rocky landscape, while green walls were set up below, which still remain along the walkway today.

Scrim Walls Surrounding Eureka Mill Building

In addition to the updates on the main ride, beige scrim walls continue to envelop the Eureka Mill Building, maintaining their position since our last update. This aspect of the refurbishment seems to be proceeding without any visible changes.

An Overview of Grizzly River Run's Refurbishment

The ride itself has been completely drained of water to facilitate crucial repairs and enhancements to the river section. Observers can see temporary scaffolding, plywood, and wire cages indicating ongoing construction efforts. One cast member was noted working with a temporary wooden structure that likely serves to support various elements within the ride area. Another team member was seen attending to a mesh tube, which is supported by posts and appears to match the size of the wooden logs placed nearby as barriers on the attraction, implying that some of the logs may soon be replaced.

Additionally, part of the bridge walkway over the river is covered with plastic wrap across the handrails, while clear tarps have been draped over the rocks surrounding the waterway. Stacks of wood materials are also visible, further emphasizing the scope of the refurbishments underway.

Currently, the entrance to the ride queue remains blocked off by wooden walls featuring signs that read: "Grizzly River Run: Down for park beautification. Please enjoy other attractions." Regrettably, Disneyland’s official website has yet to announce a reopening date for Grizzly River Run, leaving many eager fans awaiting updates.
